The Tesla Model E may be the 3rd Gen Mass-Market Vehicle to join the line up.
It’s been well known that Elon Musk has plans to release a “3rd gen” mass-market and affordable electric vehicle sometime after the Tesla Model X goes into production, however not much detail has been leaked until now. A recent trademark filing by Tesla Motors indicates that the name of this car may just end up being called the Tesla Model E. The trademark filing with serial number 86029275 calls for “automobiles and structural parts therefor”.
What exactly is a Model E? One can only speculate it stands for “economical” especially since the Model E is rumored to carry a more affordable price tag of around $35,000, well over half the cost of the Mode S. This new smaller sedan, code named the ‘Blue Star’ while the Model S was referred to as the white star, is most likely to compete with the likes of BMW’s i3.
