Air France makes huge Starlink commitment

Air France will depend on SpaceX’s Starlink for high-speed internet service across its entire fleet of aircraft, it confirmed today.

“From 2025 onwards, the airline will progressively roll out an ultra-high-speed connectivity service for a “ground-like” experience. This new service, completely free of charge in all travel cabins, will be accessible to customers by logging into their Flying Blue account,” Air France said today in a press conference.

Air France said it has chosen Starlink to launch this new, free, and easily accessible high-speed internet program.

The installations are set to start as of the Summer of 2025, when Air France said it will “gradually equip all its aircraft with this cutting-edge technology.”

Starlink has been a major answer to what is usually less-than-dependable airline WiFi service. Planes are not known for giving high-speed internet access and plenty of dependability.

However, things are changing, and it is mostly because of Starlink. Several airlines are adopting the high-speed internet service for their airlines, and they are doing so with major commitments.

Hawaiian Airlines announced it would be rolling out Starlink on all of its Airbus A330 and A321neo aircraft. It is also in talks with Boeing and SpaceX to bring the internet service to its lineup of airplanes from that manufacturer.

Starlink is still expanding as a service as SpaceX is launching new batches of satellites nearly every week. It’s most recent launch occurred just two days ago from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The service has launched over 7,000 satellites so far.
