Tesla-financed bus line takes first trip for Giga Berlin employees

Tesla has launched a new bus service in Germany for Giga Berlin employees, created to give employees a new option to get to work alongside several others.

Earlier this Summer, we reported on Tesla’s all-electric train in Germany, which created a new way for people to get to and from work without driving their cars.

There is also a bike route that would take employees straight to work. However, Tesla has launched another form of transportation for employees to get to Giga Berlin: a transit bus.

The new bus line started operation today, on Monday, and connects Fürstenwalde, Hangelsberg, the Tesla factory in Grünheide, and Erkner all together.

The first line runs at 5 a.m. local time and runs the route six times daily, enough times to take employees to work and then back home for three shifts.

It takes 44 minutes to go from start to finish, rbb24 reported. Although it is “primarily intended” for employee use, it does appear the public can use the bus line as well.

Most would think local authorities would create the new bus, but that is not the case. Tesla pushed for the line to be created, and according to the Oder-Spree district, Tesla financed the new bus line.

The creation of a new line took place just months after the all-electric Giga Train started operating.
