Data from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has revealed that the Tesla Model 3 was the city-state’s best-selling sedan in August 2024. This was true for all types of sedans that are being sold in Singapore today–battery electric, combustion-powered, or otherwise.
A look at the LTA’s August 2024 vehicle sales data shows that Tesla sold a total of 186 Model 3 sedans in Singapore during the month. These results speak to the popularity of the reengineered all-electric vehicle in Singapore, as the new Model 3 actually outsold the Model Y in August. For comparison, Tesla sold 122 Model Y in Singapore last month.
Singapore saw a total of 972 sedans that were sold in August 2024. Considering that the re-engineered Model 3 accounted for 186 units by itself, it would mean that nearly one in five sedans that were sold in Singapore last month were a Tesla. This is extremely impressive considering that the Model 3 is still a premium-priced midsized sedan.
Other standouts in Singapore’s sedan market in August 2024 were a petrol-powered Toyota, which sold 128 units, and an all-electric sedan from BYD, which also sold 128 units. A hybrid sedan from Hyundai also sold 102 units during the month.
All in all, Tesla sold a total of 308 vehicles in Singapore in August 2024. The whole city-state saw a total of 3,949 vehicle sales last month, so this would suggest that Tesla accounted for 7.8% of Singapore’s overall automotive market in August. That’s not bad at all for a company that pretty much just sells two vehicles in city-state.
The reengineered Tesla Model 3 is a safe, well-refined vehicle with a robust set of features that make it a bang-for-the-buck car. As noted by reviewers of the vehicle, the reengineered Model 3 is no longer just a great EV—it is a great car, period. And as could be seen in Singapore’s August 2024 sales, the Model 3 resonates a lot with consumers.
