Volkswagen of America launched an EV emissions calculator with fintech company Future for ID.4 SUV drivers.

VW and Future’s carbon emissions calculator is free to use. It is accessible through Volkswagen’s website. Future developed the calculator to measure the carbon impact of driving.

To use the electric vehicle emissions calculator, drivers must enter their license plate into the calculator. Future leverages its proprietary Carbon API to calculate the driver’s carbon emissions and create a custom impact report. Future and Volkswagen’s impact report factors in the quality of the electricity used to charge the vehicle, considering whether it is clean or dirty.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Volkswagen to educate drivers as to how they can reduce their carbon emissions when driving,” said Future Co-Founder and CEO Jean-Louis Warnholz. “Consumers are looking for simple and rewarding ways to do right by our planet, and Future is building products that help do just that.”
