Show co-host Todd doesn’t shy away from questioning the true value for the Model X. The vehicle is ahead of its time with technological advancements such as the falcon wing doors, Ludicrous mode that can take the 5,000+ lb. vehicle from 0 – 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, and self-presenting doors, but is there any major function the Model X can do that a regular minivan can’t? At nearly four times the cost of a minivan, Todd questions the main value for owning a Model X.
In the end, the show's host believed the Model X was unique and special, but with all of the automation and technological advancement the vehicle has, the actual review wasn't so much on driving the car, rather it was more about the theatrics.
"In truth, the Model X is incredibly impressive, but isn’t concerned with the things we seek out on our show. The actual driving enjoyment is overshadowed by technology and party tricks, leaving me with an interesting experience to discuss, but a review focused on entirely different things. The way the doors work, the touch screen interface, and the automated features could be part of a hotel review or a real estate writeup instead of discussions about a car. The Model X isn’t something to drive as much as it is a place to be."
