Lucid Motors, which is partly owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), has begun deliveries of its Air sedan to customers in Saudi Arabia. Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing Director of Lucid Middle East, shared the update in an interview.

Sultan noted that he anticipates an influx of Lucid vehicles on the country’s roads, especially considering the demand for the company’s cars in Saudi Arabia. The executive noted that Lucid is poised to start delivering hundreds of Air sedans to customers in the upcoming months.

Lucid’s lineup currently consists of one vehicle, the Air luxury sedan. The Air features several variants, including the Lucid Air Dream Edition, Lucid Air Grand Touring, Lucid Touring, Lucid Pure, and a super-sports edition dubbed the Lucid Air Sapphire. The Lucid Air Sapphire might impress customers in Saudi Arabia, as a prototype of the vehicle soundly beat the Tesla Model S Plaid in a drag race.

To meet the demand for the Air, Lucid is expected to ship hundreds of cars every week from its manufacturing facility in Arizona, United States, to Saudi Arabia, as noted in a report from Argaam. The number of cars that would be delivered to the country would depend on the capacity of each shipment.

Lucid’s upcoming Saudi factory, located in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), is expected to start operations in the third or fourth quarter of 2023, Sultan noted. The executive stated that the facility would cater not only to the local demand in Saudi Arabia but also to the needs of customers in other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Sultan provided some assurance to potential owners of the Lucid Air in his interview with Argaam. As per the executive, the Lucid Air is reliable, as the vehicle has undergone rigorous testing in adverse weather conditions. Sultan also noted that the Air sedan requires maintenance only once a year, and it can operate for a minimum of 10 years.

The Lucid Air sedans are priced between SAR 440,000 ($117,325) and SAR 960,000 ($255,983) in Saudi Arabia. The prices of the luxury all-electric sedan in are inclusive of VAT. Considering that the Lucid Air has very few competitors in the all-electric luxury vehicle segment, the flagship sedan might just catch some momentum in Saudi Arabia.
