Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to announce that the company’s “unexpected by most” new product will be finally revealed at 5pm California time today. Musk’s deliberately vague tweet from October 9 has sparked a storm of speculation on what Tesla will be revealing.
Updated October 19 at 1:00pm PT: Elon Musk revealed that today’s product unveiling will be Model 3 Part 2.
Rumors have been circulating since May that the company will utilize a new “triple camera” that separates processing between various fields of vision – main, narrow and wide angle. The use of a more sophisticated camera could further improve upon Version 8.0 of Autopilot which shifted focus away from the camera to radar technology.

However, ahead of the product unveiling that was originally slated for October 17, the Silicon Valley-based automaker and energy company has had a recent surge in social media activity promoting Tesla’s Powerwall, leading many to believe that the company will be revealing product related to energy storage.
