An F-15 Eagle fighter jet participating in the Wings Over Wayne 2019 Airshow in Goldsboro, North Carolina set off a Tesla Model 3’s Sentry Mode. The sequence of events gave the impression the car was saluting the American military icon with Sentry Mode’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor musical warning composed by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Dash cam footage capturing the F-15 flyover, posted by Reddit user TESLAFAN-NC, contrasts the epic-sounding classical Bach melody against a background of monotonous honking alarms projected by other affected cars in the area.
Sentry Mode was set off a total of three times throughout the same day of the airshow, according to the vehicle’s owner.
The Wings Over Wayne airshow is an annual event open to the public featuring numerous classic, modern, and custom aircraft displays and flying demonstrations over the course of several days. This year’s schedule included aerobatic stunt shows, a jet-powered truck, and WWII-era planes, among others. One of the two US fighter plane demonstration teams is also typically in attendance at the event, either the Navy’s Blue Angels or the Air Force’s Thunderbirds, and performs a synchronized flying show as a headliner. This year the Thunderbirds performed for the Wings Over Wayne airshow audience.
Tesla’s Sentry Mode has been proving invaluable to Tesla owners since its release, having captured incredible footage of defacement, break-ins, and surprising criminal activity. In April this year, a local politician was caught in a hit-and-run incident by Sentry Mode.
Despite the disappointing fact that these types of events are ongoing, Sentry Mode was designed specifically to assist in deterring and rectifying those kinds of situations.
