Tesla AI team lead shares exciting teaser for AI Day 2022

Every Tesla enthusiast who has followed the company over the years would know that CEO Elon Musk tends to be very optimistic with his forecasts. He also has a tendency to hype products and innovations prior to their release. FSD Beta 10.69 is a notable example of this.

This is one of the reasons why Musk’s comments about certain Tesla events may be taken with a grain of salt by those who tend to adopt a neutral stance on the electric vehicle maker. But when veterans in the tech sector, particularly those who are extremely knowledgeable in their respective fields, hype up a Tesla event, even skeptics could be intrigued.

Such a thing happened recently when Tim Zaman, who was previously from NVIDIA and is currently Tesla’s lead for its AI Infra & AI Platform team, shared some optimistic words about AI Day 2022 event. In a post on Twitter, Zaman expressed his excitement for the event, going so far as to state that it would be “nuts.”

There’s a lot of hype surrounding AI Day 2022, part of which is due to Elon Musk’s comments about the company’s humanoid robot project. Musk had previously noted that Tesla would likely be able to unveil a working prototype of the Tesla Bot (Optimus) on the event. This seemed to be supported by the company’s invites, which heavily featured the humanoid robot.

But perhaps the most notable teaser for AI Day can be found in the event’s ticket. Images of the event’s ticket that have been shared online point to AI Day 2022 being held at the company’s Page Mill Road facility in Palo Alto, the site where the AI team is reportedly based. Apart from this, the event’s ticket also hints that the event will run from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. PST, a full six hours.

It remains to be seen if the information in the shared images of the AI Day 2022 ticket are accurate and final, and the 6-hour duration seems quite excessive. That being said, Musk has hinted that AI Day 2022 is ultimately a recruitment event designed to expand the company’s AI team, so it would make sense for Tesla to showcase its latest innovations as thoroughly as possible.
