Tesla Giga New York may be the company’s most underrated production facility, but the Buffalo-based plant is accomplishing some key goals for the electric vehicle maker. This is true for the company’s Supercharger program, particularly with regards to the production of NACS adapters for non-Tesla vehicles.
Just recently, for example, Tesla announced through its official Tesla Charging account on social media platform X that Giga New York has successfully ramped the production of NACS adapters to 8,000 units per week. Tesla also noted that OEMs are also ramping suppliers for the accessory.
Giga New York’s production of NACS adapters helps push Tesla’s goal of accelerating the advent of sustainable transportation. NACS adapters are needed for non-Tesla EVs to access compatible Supercharger stalls, so the accessory, at least for some drivers, could determine if they could comfortably travel long distances or not.

Giga New York currently produces Tesla’s Solar Roof, solar panels, and electrical components of Superchargers. The facility is also home to an Autopilot team that is mostly comprised of data annotation specialists. More recently, Tesla reiterated its plans to build a $500 million Dojo supercomputer facility in Buffalo, New York.
As per Tesla on its official NACS page, Superchargers currently make up three out of four fast chargers in North America. Tesla initially opened the North American Charging Standard to other automakers in late 2022, but at the time, only a small EV startup, Aptera, opted to adopt the system. In a comment to Automotive News, Chargeway CEO Matt Teske noted that at the time, other EV players in the industry found Tesla’s proposal arrogant.
Things changed about six months later when Tesla offered Supercharger access with NACS adoption, however. With Supercharger access for non-Tesla EVs on the table, carmakers became much more willing to commit to the North American Charging Standard. The adoption of NACS accelerated even further when veteran automakers Ford and General Motors announced that their EVs would be supporting Tesla’s standard.
