EDIT: Elon Musk has denied that he is pledging $45 million monthly to a super PAC.

A recent report from The Wall Street Journal has suggested that Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is looking to pledge $45 million per month to America PAC, a newly-formed super PAC that supports former US President Donald Trump’s presidential bid. Musk has not confirmed the WSJ‘s claims as of writing.

Citing individuals reportedly familiar with the matter, the publication noted that America PAC will be receiving support from a number of high-profile entities. Apart from Musk, the super PAC is also getting support from Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale and the Winklevoss Twins, who made a name for themselves in the cryptocurrency segment. The super PAC is also supported by former US ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft and her husband, Joe Craft, the chief executive of Alliance Resource Partners.

It should be noted that a filing from the group does not list a contribution from Musk yet. America PAC’s filing on Monday indicated that it had raised $8.8 million, as noted in a CNBC report, but it has also spent $7.8 million as of the end of June. This left the super PAC with less than $1 million in cash on hand. Musk’s contribution, if the WSJ’s report does prove accurate, would likely go a long way toward supporting America PAC.

While Elon Musk has been seemingly supportive of conservative politicians in recent months, the CEO has been pretty quiet about which presidential candidate he would be voting for this November. Back in November 2023, Musk noted that he would not be voting for Biden over Trump, but he also did not endorse the former US President. Following the attempted assassination of Trump during a campaign rally on Saturday, however, Musk noted in a post on X that he would be voting for the former president.

Elon Musk’s support for Donald Trump is quite interesting considering the previous president’s conservative and mostly critical stance on electric vehicles. Despite this, Musk has noted that Trump does call him at times and that the former president has warmed up to Tesla’s electric cars. Musk also noted that Trump is fond of the Tesla Cybertruck
