Elon Musk calls Apple devices with ChatGPT a ‘security violation’

Elon Musk called Apple devices with ChatGPT a security violation. During Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), it announced Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT integration with iOS 18.

With Apple iOS 18, Siri can use OpenAI’s ChatGPT to respond to customer requests. ChatGPT’s integration with Siri is part of Apple Intelligence, the company’s way of rolling out artificial intelligence in its devices.

“With ChatGPT from OpenAI integrated into Siri and Writing Tools, you get even more expertise when it might be helpful for you—no need to jump between tools. Siri can tap into ChatGPT for certain requests, including questions about photos or documents. And with Compose in Writing Tools, you can create and illustrate original content from scratch,” Apple explained.

Not everyone seems pleased with Apple’s decision to integrate ChatGPT with Siri. Elon Musk is among them. The Tesla CEO is considering banning Apple devices in his companies if Apple does integrate ChatGPT at the OS level. Musk considers ChatGPT integration in Apple devices at the OS level an “unacceptable security violation.”

“And visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage,” added Elon Musk.

Elon Musk started a company called xAI that is working on artificial intelligence aimed at helping humans accelerate scientific discovery and understand the universe.

xAI’s first product is Grok, an AI based on the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. According to the company, Grok is designed to answer nearly any question and go a step further by suggesting questions to ask. In May 2024, xAI released Grok-1.5 to X Premium users in all jurisdictions.
