Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) users would have a very eventful next few months. As can be seen in a release roadmap published by the Tesla AI team, the electric vehicle maker is poised to release a number of key features in the coming months. Tesla is also looking to secure FSD approval for Europe and China by early 2025.

The release roadmap shows that Tesla’s AI team would have a very busy September this year, with the company looking to attain a ~3x improvement in miles between necessary interventions with FSD v12.5.2. The team is also looking to develop a unified model for vehicles equipped with Hardware 3 and Hardware 4 vehicles (now known as AI3 and AI4 cars).

Other key functions that are expected to be rolled out this month include Actually Smart Summon (ASS), which has started its rollout, Autopark features for the Cybertruck, an eye-tracking system for drivers wearing sunglasses, and FSD for the Cybertruck. These updates are very exciting, especially as some functions like FSD for the Cybertruck and eye tracking with sunglasses have been anticipated for months.

In October 2024, more features will be released by the Tesla AI team. These include Unpark, Park, and Reverse in FSD, as well as the release of FSD V13, a major update to the electric vehicle maker’s most advanced driver-assist system today. As per the Tesla AI team, V13 should have ~6x improved miles between necessary interventions. It would not be surprising if the overall comfort of FSD also improves with V13.

Perhaps most interesting with the Tesla AI team’s release roadmap is the targets that were listed for the first quarter of 2025. As per the AI team, FSD’s expected release in Europe and China is expected in Q1 2025, pending regulatory approval. Considering China’s open support for driverless cars, there is a pretty big chance that FSD will get approved for the country’s roads on time.
