Tesla China saw 14,200 new vehicle registrations in the week of August 19-25, 2024. These results suggest that Tesla China is poised to end Q3 2024 on a high note.

Tesla China does not report its weekly sales figures, though a general idea of the company’s overall domestic performance can be inferred through new vehicle registrations. Fortunately, these registrations are tracked closely by industry watchers. Local automaker Li Auto has also been reporting insurance registration data on Chinese social media for some time now as well.

And as per Li Auto’s recent data, Tesla China saw 14,200 registrations in the week ending August 25. For comparison, Tesla China saw 14,300 insurance registrations in the week ending August 18; 15,500 new vehicle registrations in the week ending August 11; and 12,500 registrations in the week ending August 4, 2024.

Industry watchers have noted that Tesla China is showing signs of a good comeback this third quarter. As per TSLA bull and The Future Fund Managing Partner Gary Black, Tesla China’s third quarter 2024 registrations are currently up 10% year over year and up 30% quarter-over-quarter.

If Tesla can maintain this momentum all the way until the end of September, the company could post one of its strongest quarters in China to date. Elon Musk has noted that he believes Tesla could exceed its 2023 results this year. The company’s performance in the domestic Chinese market this Q3 and Q4 would likely determine if Musk could achieve his goal or not.

For context, Tesla sold a total of 1,808,581 vehicles in FY 2023. So far, Tesla has delivered 830,776 vehicles globally between Q1 and Q2 2024. From this number, 426,623 vehicles were from Giga Shanghai
