The Tesla Model S Plaid is getting new Sport Seats that resemble a traditional racing seat, according to a leak in the company’s Service Manual that was accompanied by pictures of the new thrones.
The Model S Plaid is Tesla’s fastest vehicle, combining luxury with performance for a relatively affordable price based on comparable options on the market.
It is also one of Tesla’s least-sold vehicles, as the Model 3 and Model Y have routinely made up the vast majority of the automaker’s sales for several years.
Tesla has not forgotten about its flagship vehicles, however, and it has continued to refine them with new features and looks.
The Model S, for example, in its fastest Plaid configuration, is getting new Sport Seats, as seen in the company’s Service Manual.
On the r/TeslaMotors subreddit, u/S3pirion showed images of the new Model S Plaid seats, which appear to be more traditional in terms of racing seats and are fitted with the Plaid Mode emblem on the upper back portion.
It is quite a difference from the original Model S Plaid seats:
Tesla appears to have opted toward a more traditional racing seat for the Model S Plaid. Racing seats are lighter and stiffer and are used more frequently to help reduce weight and offer more stability for the driver while they are operating the car at higher speeds.
The Model S Plaid goes from 0-60 in just 1.99 seconds, so racing seats are an ideal option for the vehicle given its speed, which makes it one of the fastest production vehicles on the market.
