The first Tesla Semi has been spotted on European roads. While the vehicle was still being transported when it was captured on video, its presence in the region suggests that Tesla may indeed be preparing for the Class 8 all-electric truck’s release in the region.
While the Tesla Semi has been running on public roads in the United States since its initial unveiling event in late 2017, this is the first time that the Semi has been spotted on European roads. Tesla community member Esther Rebers, who shared the video of the vehicle, noted that the short footage of the Semi was taken in Kamen, Germany. The Class 8 all-electric truck was reportedly on its way to Hannover.

As noted in previous reports, the IAA Transportation 2024 trade show is expected to be held from September 17 to 22, 2024 in Hannover, Germany. In a press release, the organizers of the event noted that there has been a rise in exhibitor registrations this year. Tesla is one of the exhibitors at this year’s event.
While the Tesla Semi will probably be one of the stars in the upcoming IAA Transportation 2024 trade show, the vehicle is not the only all-electric truck that will be showcased at the event. As per the event’s organizers, the Tesla Semi will be joined by electric trucks from established players like Mercedes-Benz Trucks and MAN Truck & Bus SE, among others.

Apart from the Tesla Semi’s expected appearance at the IAA Transportation 2024 trade show, Tesla has also opened up a job listing for a Head of Business Development – Semi Truck EMEA (Amsterdam or Berlin) on its Careers website recently. This hints at the company’s plan to release the Class 8 all-electric truck in the region.
“Tesla is seeking a Business Development Manager in Europe to build/maintain customer relationships and plan for Tesla’s future Semi Truck deployments. This person will regularly meet with prospective European Semi customers to understand their use cases, needs, and duty cycles,” Tesla noted in its job listing.
