Elon Musk less than 1M followers away from becoming Twitter’s most followed account
Elon Musk is just about one million followers away from becoming the most followed person on Twitter. The CEO’s gap between Barack Obama, currently Twitter’s most-followed account, has narrowed to less than one million.
A look at Barack Obama’s page would show that the former US President currently has a total of 133,128,202 followers as of writing. In comparison, Elon Musk’s profile on Twitter shows that the CEO is followed — at least as of writing — by 132,207,559 accounts. This means that the gap between Musk’s and Obama’s follower count has narrowed down to just about 920,000 followers.
Musk has always been a Twitter power user, and following his acquisition of the social media platform last year, his follower count maintained its momentum. This has allowed Musk to close in on the former US President, who has maintained his place as the platform’s most-followed account for years.
There are some notable differences between Musk and Obama’s Twitter accounts. Musk tends to use Twitter regularly, and his posts are notoriously off-the-cuff, for better or worse. Obama, on the other hand, adopts a more measured and formal approach to his posts on the social media platform. Both Musk and Obama generate millions of impressions per tweet, though Musk’s posts tend to receive more replies.
Musk also follows only 187 accounts on Twitter despite having over 132 million followers. The former US president, on the other hand, follows a whopping 563,395 accounts as of writing.
The jury is still out on whether Musk’s purchase of Twitter for $44 billion was a wise decision, though the CEO has mentioned that the social media platform “has a shot at being cash flow positive” in the second quarter. It will be quite an accomplishment if Twitter does become cash flow positive, considering that the social media platform never made much money prior to Musk’s acquisition.
“We’re getting close to the point where we’re close to having the total expenditures for the company excluding debt roughly equal to debt…I think we’ll be there in Q2. I don’t definitely want to count chickens before they hatch…but I think we’ve got a shot at being cash flow possible next quarter,” Musk noted during a Morgan Stanley conference.
As noted by Business Model Analyst, Twitter posted its first-ever net income of $1.2 billion in 2018, marking the first year it was profitable. It seemed like the social media platform had some momentum then, as in 2019, Twitter was profitable again with a net income of $1.4 billion. Between 2013 and 2017, Twitter did not post annual profits. The company was not profitable in the years after 2019 either.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced a major update with texting and driving capabilities on Full Self-Driving v14.2.1, the company’s latest version of the FSD suite.
Tesla Full Self-Driving, even in its most mature and capable versions, is still a Level 2 autonomous driving suite, meaning it requires attention from the vehicle operator.
You cannot sleep, and you should not take attention away from driving; ultimately, you are still solely responsible for what happens with the car.
The vehicles utilize a cabin-facing camera to enable attention monitoring, and if you take your eyes off the road for too long, you will be admonished and advised to pay attention. After five strikes, FSD and Autopilot will be disabled.
However, Musk announced at the Annual Shareholder Meeting in early November that the company would look at the statistics, but it aimed to allow people to text and drive “within the next month or two.”
He said:

Today, Musk confirmed that the current version of Full Self-Driving, which is FSD v14.2.1, does allow for texting and driving “depending on context of surrounding traffic.”

There are some legitimate questions with this capability, especially as laws in all 50 U.S. states specifically prohibit texting and driving. It will be interesting to see the legality of it, because if a police officer sees you texting, they won’t know that you’re on Full Self-Driving, and you’ll likely be pulled over.
Some states prohibit drivers from even holding a phone when the car is in motion.
It is certainly a move toward unsupervised Full Self-Driving operation, but it is worth noting that Musk’s words state it will only allow the vehicle operator to do it depending on the context of surrounding traffic.
He did not outline any specific conditions that FSD would allow a driver to text and drive.

The company’s routes typically span 500-600 miles per day, positioning it as an ideal tester for the Semi’s day cab configuration in standard logistics scenarios.
Details remain under mutual NDA, but the meeting reportedly focused on matching the truck to yard, shuttle and regional applications while scrutinizing economics like infrastructure, maintenance and incentives.

Tesla appears to be doubling down on its European Full Self-Driving (Supervised) push, with the company extending its demo ride-along program by three months until the end of March 2026. The update seems to have been implemented due to overwhelming demand.

Tesla EU Policy and Business Development Manager Ivan Komušanac shared on LinkedIn that the company is offering ride-along experiences in Germany, France and Italy while working toward FSD (Supervised) approval in Europe.
He noted that this provides a great feedback opportunity from the general public, encouraging participants to record and share their experiences. For those unable to book in December, Komušanac teased more slots as “Christmas presents.”
Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt highlighted the extension on X, stating that dates now run from December 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, in multiple cities including Stuttgart-Weinstadt, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf in Germany. This suggests that the FSD ride-along program in Europe has officially been extended until the end of the first quarter of 2026.
