Hyundai Motor Company hit its 100 million-unit milestone on Monday, about 57 years after it was founded.

The Avante compact sedan was Hyundai’s 100-millionth unit to cross the production line. According to local records, Hyundai’s most-sold vehicle is the Avante, with over 15 million units sold as of August 2024.

Hyundai’s second most-sold vehicle is the Accent subcompact car, with more than 10 million units sold. The Sonata midsize sedan, Tuscan compact SUV, and the Santa Fe midsize SUV round out Hyundai’s top-five most-sold vehicles.

Hyundai’s next 100 millionth milestone may be driven by a different set of vehicles. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 was the 100,000,001th unit to roll off the South Korean automaker’s production line, symbolizing the company’s future. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N has received acclaim this year. It was one of the top three finalists for the 2024 World Car Awards

During Hyundai Motor’s 2024 CEO Investor Day, the company announced its new strategy to offer a more diverse portfolio of electric, hybrid, and hydrogen vehicles.

“Under the Hyundai Way, we will respond to the market with agility thanks to Hyundai’s unique flexible response system. This will secure sustainable leadership in an uncertain market environment and strategically position the company to create a future centered on mobility and energy,” noted President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company Jaehoon Chang.

Hyundai is also upping the ante with its future vehicles by working with Samsung. The two South Korean companies want to create an open ecosystem, connecting vehicles with smart home devices and phones.
