Tesla’s social media accounts in South Korea have been posting cryptic images of the number zero on its social media accounts over the past few days, and the Tesla community doesn’t seem to understand why as of yet.
In the past few days, Tesla Korea’s accounts on Instagram and X have posted multiple images with stylized designs featuring the number zero, and most can only speculate as to why. The posts do come ahead of Tesla’s “We, Robot” robotaxi unveiling event on October 10 (or 10/10), and some have suggested that it may be related to that or the company’s plans to launch Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised in markets beyond North America.
At this point, it’s not entirely clear why Tesla’s Korea accounts have been posting the zero images, though it will likely become clear in the coming days.
These posts began with posts from both the company’s X and Instagram Korea accounts on Friday, though only the company’s Instagram account has followed up with the second and third images. In recent months, Tesla’s release of FSD Supervised in countries other than Canada and the U.S. has been teased fairly regularly, though nothing specific in relation to South Korea.
Elon Musk himself has said that Tesla expects to gain approval for FSD in China by the end of the year, and reports have suggested that the company will be testing 10 vehicles with the software ahead of a wider launch. In late April, Tesla reportedly gained tentative approval for the software in China, and multiple small hints have pointed to the company nearing FSD approval in European markets.
Tesla is also holding the Robotaxi unveiling event at a Warner Brothers Studio space in Burbank, California on October 10, though similar images bearing the number zero haven’t been posted on any of the company’s other social media accounts than the Korea one at this point.
In recent weeks, Tesla has been increasing data collection around the Warner Brothers studio and other California locations, thought to be related to the upcoming unveiling event. Tesla also sent invites to Teslarati and to others for the unveiling event last week, along with launching a referral benefit that enters those who make two referrals into a raffle to get a ticket to the event.
The Tesla Cybertruck also arrived in South Korea last week, presumably to be certified for use on the country’s roads, though it’s not clear how the images would be related.
