Resorts World Cruises has announced that it will be rolling out SES’ Cruise mPOWERED + Starlink PRO Service to its flagship Genting Dream ship. Plans are underway to equip the company’s Resorts World One cruise ship with the same satellite internet solution.

Resorts World will be partnering with SES to install its fully integrated Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) service on the company’s cruise ships. This approach, which combines SES’ MEO and Starlink’s LEO satellite coverage, is expected to allow guests to enjoy speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps during their stay at Resorts World’s cruise ships, as noted in a report from The Digital Ship

SES described its MEO+LEO solution in a previous press release. “Cruise operators will be able to enjoy SES’s new offering that combines the truly global, high-throughput service of Starlink’s LEO system with SES’s unmatched performance MEO constellation to deliver a unique guest and crew experience by expanding existing capacity and reach. The solutions are available in either Premium tier (3Gbps/ship) – for the leading ships who wish to deliver the highest throughput in the industry or Pro tier (1.5Gbps/ship) – for the operators who wish to manage user experience by matching the right application to the right orbit.”

Michael Goh, President of Resorts World Cruises, expressed optimism about the MEO+LEO solution. He noted that connectivity is key in the digital age.

“At Resorts World Cruises, we are constantly striving to enhance our onboard guests’ experiences with best-in-class hospitality and services, complemented by the latest innovations and technology offerings. In this digital age, state-of-the-art connectivity is at the heart of many vacationers. As such, we are delighted to engage SES to pioneer connected experiences at sea for the cruise market whilst also making the most of this connectivity to optimize our operations,” Goh noted.

Simon Maher, Global Head of Maritime Cruise at SES, also commented on the partnership with Resorts World.

“Reliable high-speed connectivity is an essential enabler for Resorts World Cruises’ ambition of redefining cruising with world-class luxury accommodation, exclusive restaurants, spas, and other facilities, as well as personalized, tailored experiences for their guests. With our fully integrated, end-to-end service that brings together the power of multiple orbits, we are proud to deliver unmatched connectivity that powers cruise liners’ cutting-edge onboard offering and helps companies maintain their competitive edge,” he said.
