Rivian has posted the full video of its Gen 2 Quad-Motor R1T’s 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb run. The video, which features simultaneous camera feeds of the all-electric truck as it climbed the treacherous mountain, is quite a spectacle.

The Rivian R1T is by no means a small vehicle. It is also a pretty heavy truck. Despite this, the R1T could be seen accelerating like a bat out of hell during its Pikes Peak run, reaching speeds of over 100 mph in some areas. The R1T’s brakes could also be seen working their magic as they kept the quad-motor beast planted in the mountain’s most dangerous sections.

It is no surprise that Rivian decided to post the full video of its Gen 2 Quad-Motor R1T’s 2024 Pikes Peak run. Very few production pickup trucks, after all, would likely be capable of matching the vehicle’s performance during the event. The Gen 2 Quad-Motor R1T used for the run was mostly stock, after all, save for some minor optimizations.

This was not the first time that Rivian took on Pikes Peak in the R1T. In 2023, the electric truck maker also sent out its flagship all-electric pickup truck to take on the dangerous mountain. At the time, however, Rivian Sr. Performance Test Engineer Gardner Nichols noted that his R1T’s battery temperature rose faster than expected, forcing him to drive conservatively.

As a result, the Rivian R1T set a respectable 11:23.983 time in 2023. This year, with the Gen 2 Quad-Motor R1T, Nichols was able to complete the Pikes Peak hill climb in 10:53.883, a full 30 seconds faster than his 2023 run. This also allowed Rivian to claim the record for fastest production truck to summit the mountain to date.
