Tesla Giga Texas’ Cybertruck production ramp is accelerating

Tesla seems determined to end the first quarter with a milestone for Cybertruck production. This was hinted at by observations of avid Tesla watchers at Giga Texas, some of whom have observed a notable ramp in the all-electric pickup truck’s production in recent weeks.

Tesla Giga Texas has a dedicated team of watchers who have been chronicling the development of the facility since its earliest days. Among these is Joe Tegtmeyer, whose drone videos have provided important insight into the Giga Texas complex’s buildout for years. As per the drone operator following a recent flyover, Tesla may be closing in on a production run-rate of 900-1,000 Cybertrucks per week.

The growing number of Cybertrucks being observed around Giga Texas was particularly evident in Tegtmeyer’s recent flyover, which was conducted on the morning of March 27, 2024. It was already the final days of the first quarter, and as per the drone operator, Giga Texas was abuzz with activity. At the time, Cybertrucks were also sighted in multiple areas of the Giga Texas complex.

It would be quite fitting if Tesla ends up closing the first quarter of 2024 with a production run-rate of 1,000 Cybertrucks per week. Such an output, after all, was hinted at earlier this month when Tesla’s official X account for the Cybertruck announced that Giga Texas has successfully produced over 1,000 Cybertrucks’ worth of 4680 cells in a week. If Giga Texas can produce enough batteries for 1,000 all-electric pickup trucks in one week, after all, 1,000 Cybertrucks could be produced in a week as well.

Elon Musk has been pretty conservative with his estimates for Cybertruck production. Back in October, the CEO noted that Tesla is looking to produce about 200,000 Cybertrucks per year, and if things go well, Giga Texas could increase its output to 250,000 Cybertrucks annually in 2025. Needless to say, achieving a production rate of 1,000 Cybertrucks per week is an important step towards achieving Musk’s targets.
