Tesla buyers in the U.S. military can now get a $1,000 discount on purchases of the Cybertruck, as launched by the company on its website last week.

On Friday, it was spotted that Tesla had added the Cybertruck to its Military Purchase Program online, effectively offering active and former U.S. military members $1,000 off when buying the company’s electric vehicles (EVs). While the program originally offered the deal for purchases on the Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y, the Cybertruck has now been added, meaning that the discount is available for Tesla’s entire EV lineup.

“Receive $1,000 off any new Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck,” Tesla writes on the web page. “Offer available to military veterans, retirees, active duty members and their spouses to honor those who have served our country. Discount applied when you place your order. Unlimited availability.”

The deal is currently for Tesla’s Cybertruck “Foundation Series” units, which are the launch edition of the electric pickup and are expected to be the only Cybertrucks delivered until the end of November or so.

In June, Tesla Cybertruck owners also began receiving $2,500 vouchers to help them purchase Powershare Home Backup hardware,

Tesla over the weekend opened up orders for Foundation Series Cybertrucks on its website order configurator, after originally making buyers pay $100 for a reservation to eventually take delivery of the EV. Now, buyers can simply purchase the vehicle from Tesla’s website, with orders going out within the next few months.

Last week, Tesla began offering test drives for the Cybertruck for the first time, and the company launched orders of the vehicle for those in both Canada and Mexico.

Tesla has been ramping up production of the Cybertruck since it was first delivered to customers last November, and the company said during its recent Q2 2024 earnings call that it expected to reach profitability on the truck by early next year.
