Tesla Giga Berlin’s expansion plans continue to slowly progress. Recently, Tesla cut 3,000 trees in the forest near Giga Berlin to make room for a road.

Tesla plans to build a construction road in the area where it recently cut 3,000 trees. The construction road will be 1.86 miles long between the L23 state road and the motorway. It will be built in preparation for extensive construction work at the Freienbrink industrial site.

A spokesperson from the State Road Authority noted that Tesla will transport materials along the new construction road. It will also relieve traffic in the area.

Local reports state work on the site started in the middle of the night, surprising members of the ‘Stop Tesla’ initiative.

“They started fencing off the assembly area, setting up floodlights, and construction machinery and clearing the first trees,” said a member of the initiative.

Members of the ‘Stop Tesla’ initiative mentioned that the construction was directly next to the camp. A few mentioned that the timing, number of police stationed around the construction zone, machinery, and flood lights felt like a provocation.

Brandenburg police were asked to provide security support while the area was cleared. According to a spokesperson for the police, they were assigned to secure the construction site area and prevent any danger to bystanders. They were also asked to prevent any “event-related crimes” against the approved construction work.

The Deutsche Bahn noted that work on the site had to start as soon as possible. Michael Klein from the Deutsche Bahn stated the work starting at night was not intended as a provocation.
