Tesla has implemented a price increase for its flagship Model S and Model X in the United States and Canada.

With the recent price increase in place, the Tesla Model S All Wheel Drive (AWD) now starts at $74,990 before options in the United States. The Tesla Model S Plaid, which features a 0-60 mph time of 1.99 seconds under optimal conditions, now starts at $89,990 before options.

The Tesla Model X AWD, on the other hand, now starts at $79,990 before options. This means that the Model X AWD still qualifies for the federal tax credit, as its price is below the IRA’s $80,000 cap for SUVs. The Tesla Model X Plaid, which features a 0-60 mph time of 2.5 seconds, now starts at $94,990 before options.

In Canada, industry watchers have observed that the Model S AWD has seen a price increase of CAD 6,000, resulting in the all-electric sedan now starting at CAD $103,990. The Tesla Model S Plaid, on the other hand, received a smaller CAD 2,000 price increase, with the top-tier all-electric sedan now costing CAD 124,990 before options.

The Tesla Model X’s price increase in Canada is more uniform, with both variants of the flagship all-electric SUV receiving a CAD 3,000 price increase. With the recent price adjustment in place, the Model X AWD now starts at CAD 110,990, and the Model X Plaid now starts at CAD 131,990 before options.

The Tesla Model S and Model X may be the best-performing cars in the company’s lineup today, but both vehicles have generally been overshadowed by their peers. The Model 3 and Model Y, while not boasting as much performance as the Model S and Model X, are substantially more affordable. The Cybertruck, while being more expensive than the Model S and Model X today, offers far more tech and a more standout design.

This may be one of the reasons why Tesla has stopped reporting specific Model S/X sales figures, with the EV maker instead bundling all Model S, Model X, Cybertruck, and Tesla Semi sales under “Other Models” in its quarterly vehicle delivery and production reports.
