Tesla has started advertising on Facebook to promote the Model Y electric crossover, a notable shift for the company.
Tesla’s Model Y Facebook ad showcased the electric crossover’s price and free Supercharging miles. The Tesla Model Y currently starts at $36,490 after federal tax credits from the Inflation Reduction Act. The company also offers up to 5,000 free Supercharger miles with every new Model Y purchase.
In addition, Tesla’s Facebook ad highlights that the Tesla Model Y is the Number 1 American-made vehicle. The Tesla Model Y ad included footage of Giga Texas and workers at the factory.
BREAKING: Tesla has rejoined Facebook and is officially doing paid advertisements on the platform for the first time ever. Tesla originally removed its FB page 6 years ago.

In June 2023, Tesla dipped its toes in online advertisements with 18 ads on Google. Then, the company launched Tesla ads on X. By November 2023, Tesla started rolling out YouTube ads focusing on vehicle safety.
Tesla’s founder, Elon Musk, was a vocal critic of traditional advertising, often dismissing it as unnecessary. However, the current market landscape suggests a potential recalibration of this strategy.
Increased competition in the electric vehicle market might have created the need for Tesla to inform more people about its EV lineup. As many Tesla supporters have pointed out, new EV buyers might not be aware of the company’s vehicles, the prices they start at, or the features they offer.
