Despite its critics, The Boring Company’s Vegas Loop is growing, with recent reports indicating that the tunneling startup is planning on building a station at the Fashion Show Mall, one of Las Vegas’ most iconic shopping centers.

The Boring Company and its “Teslas in a tunnel” have been operating for some time now. A Loop system has already been built to help attendees travel around the Las Vegas Convention Center, and more recently, the Boring Company’s Loop system also started service to Resorts World.

The Vegas Loop is expected to be a 29-mile system with 51 stops. Several of these planned stops are on the Las Vegas Strip, and one of them is located in the Fashion Show Mall. As noted in a Vital Vegas report, a letter to Clark County County Planning indicated that the Boring Company Loop station will be built in the shopping center’s sub-surface garage.

“The station will be located within the existing sub-surface garage and will be accessed from the southwest via a ramp below Fashion Show Drive,” the letter read.

It should be noted, however, that the construction of the Vegas Loop station at the Fashion Show Mall would result in the removal of about 100 parking spaces at the shopping center. Considering the advantages brought by the Loop to visitors, however, the loss of 100 parking spaces would likely be worth it for Fashion Show Mall.

The Boring Company may not be as high-profile as Elon Musk’s other companies like Tesla and SpaceX, but the tunneling startup is making headway on some of its key technologies. Just recently, for example, Elon Musk posted a video of The Boring Company’s latest custom tunnel boring machine (TBM), Prufrock II, emerging from the ground.
